A big, bold fusion of new and old
joins the corten-clad new wing
by way of a glass bridge,
to the original granite steading.
Airy and light filled, the daytime areas of ground floor kitchen
and mezzanine lounge are in the new wing. The more private retreats
of bedrooms and bathrooms are housed in the remodelled steading.
The granite work of the steading is left exposed where the two buildings intersect.
Granite, steel, glass and sand blasted green oak provide a range of
interesting textural elements set off against the smoothness of polished concrete flooring.
In the mezzanine lounge, steel columns, full height gable window
and sand blasted oak beams are reminiscent of urban loft living.
